According to reports, Samsung is working on a foldable smartphone, which will have a very wide design and that will be a direct attack on Apple’s expected foldable iPhone.
As per the industry sources, the gadget will come with a 7.6-inch OLED inner display which will have a ratio of 4:3 and will be able to create a “passport-style” shape. This size almost exactly matches the leaks about Apple’s rumored iPhone Fold, which is expected to provide a 7.58-inch internal display.
The next Samsung foldable is said to have a 5.4-inch external display and to be able to wirelessly charge at 25W, so the reports claim. The wider design could lead to a more engaging experience when it comes to multitasking and watching videos.
Images that leaked last week indicate that Samsung is investing time into a wider foldable layout. The pictures were said to be part of a company survey that was conducted to find out what the user preferences were regarding foldable designs.
Analysts are saying that both Apple and Samsung are almost on the same page with the trend of wider foldable displays and they are abandoning the taller narrower formats that were characteristic of the first foldable smartphones. Market watchers expect that the Samsung device could be launched in 2026, which would place it as a direct rival to Apple's foray into the foldable phone market.
